So what does my child need?

The information below can help to inform you of what your child might need and are a guideline only. If you are unsure of what you need, please do get in contact directly with me.

Initial Assessment 
Pronunciation/Speech sounds  (£200)

  • Pre-assessment Questionnaire (details about your child's development, medical history and interests)

  • Observation and assessment of your child's speech using informal and formal assessments, full oral motor assessment and analysis of error patterns

  • Guidance for supporting your child's speech at home

  • Short written summary of discussions and recommendations 

  • Signposting to other resources, agencies / support as required

Initial Assessment - Fluency (£250)

  • Pre-assessment Questionnaire (details about your child's development, medical history and interests)

  • Detailed case history with parents to determine fluency pattern / strengths and difficulties

  • Observation and assessment of your child's fluency / stammer pattern

  • Guidance for supporting your child's fluency at home

  • Short written summary of discussions and recommendations 

  • Signposting to other resources, agencies / support as required

Standard Initial Assessment - Language (£200) - suitable for preschoolers

  • Pre-assessment Questionnaire (details about your child's development, medical history and interests) and discussion with parents (and preschool / school if required)

  • Observation and assessment of your child's communication skills 

  • Guidance for supporting your child's speech and language at home and in their educational setting 

  • Short summary of needs of your child's communication skills 

  • Liaison with your child's preschool or school as required


N.B If more than 1 ½  hours of assessment are required to fully assess your child, additional time will be agreed with you in advance.

Full Bespoke Initial Assessment - Language (£400) - suitable for school aged

  • Pre-assessment Questionnaire (details about your child's development, medical history and interests) and discussion with parents (and preschool / school if required)

  • Observation and assessment of your child's communication skills in school

  • Detailed assessment of your child's communication using standardised assessments as appropriate

  • Guidance for supporting your child's speech and language at home and in their educational setting 

  • Short summary of needs of your child's communication skills 

  • Liaison with your child's preschool or school as required


N.B If more than 3 hours of assessment are required to fully assess your child, additional time will be agreed with you in advance.

Initial Assessment
Social Communication (£250 – £400 depending on complexity of issues)

  • Pre-assessment Questionnaire (details about your child's development, medical history and interests) and discussion with parents (and preschool / school if required)

  • Observation and assessment of your child's communication skills 

  • Detailed assessment of your child's communication using standardised assessments as appropriate

  • Guidance for supporting your child's social communication at home and in their educational setting 

  • Short summary of needs of your child's communication skills 

  • Liaison with your child's preschool or school as required


N.B If more than 3 hours of assessment are required to fully assess your child, additional time will be agreed with you in advance.

Therapy Sessions (£80)

  • Fun activities to develop your child's speech and language skills.

  • Demonstration of games and activities that you will be able to play with your child between appointments.

  • Feedback of progress at every session (verbal and also via email).

  • Resources given to suit your child's needs.

  • Progress tracker (for speech sounds) or goals to work towards for language / fluency

    Please Note:

  • It is essential that either a parent or member of staff are involved in the therapy sessions.

  • Sessions are between 45 mins to 60 mins depending on the therapy provided. This will include "direct" activities, observations (if appropriate), homework and liaison

  • *C-19 update: feedback and resources will always be emailed to parents and staff (if therapy is delivered in school following the session due to current restrictions)*

  • A quiet distraction-free environment will help to make the therapy sessions as successful as possible.

Mini Therapy Session (£40)

  • Fun activities to develop your child’s speech and language skills

  • Demonstration of games and activities that you will be able to play with your child between appointments

  • Feedback of progress at every session (verbal / always via email)

  • Resources provided to suit your child’s needs

  • Progress tracker (for speech sounds) or goals to work towards for language/fluency

    Please Note:

  • It is essential that either a parent or member of staff are involved in the therapy sessions.    *C-19 update: feedback and resources will always be emailed to parents and staff (if therapy is delivered in school following the session due to current restrictions)*

  • A quiet distraction-free environment will help to make the therapy sessions as successful as possible.

Pre-school / School Visits (£80 per hour)

  • ​Observe how your child communicates in their setting as part of more detailed assessment.

  • Demonstrate activities / train staff to support your child.

  • Meet with you and staff to agree a plan for supporting your child.

Therapy Programme Targets (£70 per hour)

  • Clear goals for your child to achieve.

  • Detailed strategies and activities for you and/or staff to carry out.

  • Quality resources for activities within the programme.

  • Demonstration of activities at your home or in your child's educational setting.

  • Review of progress throughout the programme as required.

Meetings (£80 per hour)

  • Attendance at professional meetings to discuss your child's support and progress, liaison with other professionals (face to face, telephone or telehealth).

  • These may be annual reviews in school, progress meetings in pre-school or meetings with other professionals working with your child.

  • Parents will always be invited to attend face to face meetings and if you are unable to attend I will feed back to you at a preferred time and agreed format.

  • *C-19 Update: liaison/meetings will be held over the telephone or online. I will summarise feedback to you either via telephone/face to face or email*

Administration (£70 per hour)

  • You may find that an interim report is helpful for the involvement of other professionals or to summarise progress for a transition.

  • Letters or referrals onwards / liaison with others involved may be required and these will be discussed with you.

Travel (£1 per mile)

For journeys past a 5 mile radius from Tunbridge Wells Independent Speech Therapy (TWIST) base

Travel times are calculated using Google Maps


Payment​

Invoices are sent out via email for payment post-session. 

Preferred method of payment is via bank transfer.

Cash or cheque payments are also accepted.

Invoices should be settled within 10 days.
